PADI Open Water Scuba Diver
Have you dreamed of exploring the underwater world? Complete your Open Water Diver course and plunge into an unparalleled universe just below the waves. The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the most popular and recognized scuba certification worldwide, so your diving experiences will be limitless.
To enrol in a PADI Open Water Diver course or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required. There are 4 steps in accomplishing your certification; Academics, Equipment, Confined Water and Open Water.
PADI courses are performance-based, enabling you to progress at your own pace. This type of learning ensures competent and prepared divers. Course completion varies by individual and normally takes between 4 and 7 days and can be completed over a period of time to fit your schedule.
Academics
You have the option of PADI E-learning conducted online at your own pace and convenience, or we can work though classroom sessions and videos together. You will complete knowledge reviews and a final exam.
Equipment
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD) and a tank. The equipment you wear varies depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water. Here in the lakes of Ontario and Quebec we will be using exposure suits with the option of training in and using a dry suit to stay warm.
Confined Water Training
Once you are familiar with your scuba equipment you will participate in confined water training in the pool. You will practise skills and techniques you have become learned of during your academic training. Once logged, completed and approved you will then move into open water.
Open Water Training
Experience and master everything you’ve learned in confined water (the pool) in the freedom of open water. Once you have completed this you will be a certified diver!
